West Monroe's Morgan Albritton wins gold

 

Morgan Albritton, a soon to be junior at WMHS competed at the AWPC (Amateur World Powerlifting Championships) in Chicago, IL and brought home the gold! The meet, which took place in the Burr Ridge Marriot Hotel, was a world meet with contestants coming from all over the world, including Ukraine and Egypt. The ages of the contestants ranged from 13-79 years.

Morgan competed in three categories; bench, dead lift, and squat in the 105 pound weight classification.

She had three lifts in each category with the best lift contributing to her final score. She totaled 484 pounds for the win.

 Interesting side note: One of the competitors in the mens field was Rudy Reuttiger of the movie, "Rudy."
